Do I need licensed security for an event in Ontario?

Accepted Answer

If you are charging admission, serving alcohol, or hosting a large public gathering, you need security guards licensed under the Ontario Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA). Hiring unlicensed staff exposes you to liability, insurance issues, and venue contract violations. Every Blackade guard is current under PSISA, verified before deployment, and carries their licence on shift.

What areas of the GTA do you cover?

We deploy across the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, Oakville, Burlington, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa. How fast can you deploy guards?

Accepted Answer

For standing contracts we are usually on site within 7 days of agreement. For events we recommend booking 2 to 3 weeks out so we can match the right guard count and run a proper briefing. Short-notice requests are handled if our roster has capacity. Call dispatch directly for same-week or same-day deployments.

How much do security guard services cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the type of detail, the number of guards, the duration, and the location. Event coverage and short details run on an hourly rate per guard. Standing corporate, retail, and property contracts are quoted weekly or monthly. There is no flat rate that fits every site, so we quote per detail. Send your date, location, and headcount and we will come back with a written number, no obligation.

What kind of events and properties do you cover?

Accepted Answer

Weddings and private functions, corporate events, brand activations, trade shows, conferences, festivals, concerts, and late-night venues. On the property side we cover office lobbies, hotels, hospitality properties, retail floors, parking facilities, construction sites, and after-hours patrol of commercial buildings. If your detail is not on that list, call. We will tell you what we can do.

Question 6

What information do I need to provide when requesting a quote?

Accepted Answer

Date, location, expected headcount or floor traffic, the type of detail, and the rough number of guards you think you need. If you are not sure on guard count, we will recommend based on the venue, the event type, and any prior incident history. Flag VIPs, alcohol service, past issues, or special access requirements so we can brief the team properly.

What do Blackade guards wear on shift?

Accepted Answer

Default deployment is branded Blackade uniform: black tactical attire, identifiable branding, professional and presentable. For details that need a softer presence (high-end weddings, executive protection, certain corporate environments), we offer suit and tie or plainclothes options. Specify your preference when you book.

Question 8

What happens after my detail closes?

Accepted Answer

Within 24 hours of every detail closing, you receive a written shift report covering each guard's hours on post, headcount or capacity logs, any incidents (refusals, ejections, medical, conflicts), and any notes the team flagged for your follow-up. If nothing happened, the report says so. That record can matter to your insurance, your venue, or your investors.
